KUALA LUMPUR – A popular Muslim preacher and his wife have been called for questioning again yesterday in connection to a police investigation into sexual harassment allegations.

In a brief statement today, Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) summoned the duo for further questioning to facilitate the probe.

While police did not name any names, they are believed to be Ebit Lew and wife.

Police also advised the public not to release any statements and distribute any materials to avoid speculation and provocation that may affect police investigations.

On August 19, CID director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said Ebit was called in to assist with the probe under Section 9 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 at Bukit Aman.

“The investigation will proceed until police are satisfied with the case to be referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for advice and further action.

“Police has urged all parties not to make any speculation and provocation to ensure this case can be investigated transparently.”

It is learnt that the probe is related to a video showing a man said to resemble the well-known preacher, which has been widely circulating on social media. – The Vibes, October 1, 2021
