KUALA LUMPUR – A freak storm has reportedly caused the collapse of a concrete structure at the entrance of the Bangi Wonderland Theme Park and Resort this afternoon.

Several photos of the incident were shared on social media by netizens who expressed shock at the destruction caused by the intense weather.

A witness told mStar that the incident took place at about 4pm when heavy rain struck the area.

However, there were no injuries reported although it took place while patrons were in the vicinity.

It is also understood that efforts are underway to clean up the rubble of the 20m structure that was scattered on the side of the road leading into the theme park.

Meanwhile, some netizens shared their account of the terrifying incident on the Pekan Bangi community page on Facebook.

“Yes, I work there… This is due to strong winds. So this structure collapsed in half,” said a Facebook user who goes by the name Chikk Alinn.

Another netizen Endang Allief said the heavy rain and strong winds sent patrons scrambling for shelter.

“The wind was so strong it sent customers scrambling… it was like a cyclone but it happened in only five minutes.”

The authorities and theme park management have yet to issue a statement on the incident at press time. – The Vibes, February 13, 2022
