JOHOR BARU – Warisan is contesting in the Johor state election to provide a choice to the people following Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) disappointing showing in the Melaka and Sarawak state elections last year.

Warisan Wira chief Datuk Azis Jamman said the results of the elections in both states were clear indicators that voters no longer supported PH.

“Therefore, Warisan’s involvement in the Johor state election is to provide an alternative to voters who are sick and bored with racial and religious political polemics.

“Sabah DAP Socialist Youth’s (DAPSY) claims that Warisan is collaborating with Umno shows the party’s desperation due to the loss of support towards DAP,” he said in a statement today.

He said if DAP really did not reject any opposition party contesting in Peninsular Malaysia as it was the democratic right of every party, then DAP should not question Warisan’s move to contest in Johor.

“We are bored with PH’s antics in Parliament. They get all angry and wave their hands about in front of the camera, but behind the scenes, they form an agreement to abstain.

“If Umno was born in the Johor palace, then perhaps Johor will be the birthplace of Warisan in the peninsula.

“If history has shown that Sabahans can accept parties founded in the peninsula, then in the current political uncertainty that has caused voters to lose faith in politicians, Warisan is the party of choice for Johoreans based on our proven track record of principles and prioritising the people’s mandate in the 14th general election over personal agendas,” he added.

He stressed that Warisan was serious and sincere about bringing Malaysia towards a more united and progressive direction, adding that the party had been consistent all this while and refused to sign the bi-partisan cooperation memorandum of understanding with the government that resulted in an aimless and ineffective opposition bloc. – Bernama, March 5, 2022
