MIRI – Mayor and Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii is the latest Sarawak lawmaker to test positive for Covid-19 in the last two weeks.

He posted on his Facebook page today, confirming his positive PCR test result, saying he was possibly infected last Thursday or Friday, and had attended official and private functions.

“It would be wise for anyone who came into close contact with me to do their RTK tests and if needed, the PCR test. II was feeling unwell for the last two days, but feeling much better this morning.

“The only symptoms I am having now is a slight cough. No headache or muscle ache. Appetite is as good as ever. So, all in all, nothing to worry about.”

He added that he had adhered to all the required SOPs but still got infected.

On Monday night, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg also tested positive for Covid-19 while Deputy Premier Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian had completed his mandatory quarantine after being infected last week.

Sim had said that the public should not assume that Covid-19 was like any mild flu.

He added that it would be difficult for the elderly and those with comorbidities to cope with Covid-19.

According to the CovidNow portal, Sarawak logged 1,727 cases as of midnight. – The Vibes, March 10, 2022
