BALIK PULAU – Police arrested the boyfriend of a woman who was reported dead, believed to have been beaten at a residence of their acquaintance in Teluk Kumbar here last Saturday.

The arrest of the suspect, who is in his 20s, along with three other male friends was made by the team from the Southwest district police station.

It is understood that the victim’s boyfriend is a well-known YouTuber with over 100,000 followers.

Southwest district police chief Kamarul Rizal Jenal said the arrests were made after they received a report on April 2 from a doctor at Balik Pulau Hospital about a patient in critical condition.

Kamarul said the doctor discovered many new and old bruises all over the 20-year-old woman’s body.

“The victim who was unconscious was later referred to Penang Hospital and pronounced dead on the same day.

“Acting on information, police arrested the woman’s lover and three other friends believed to be at the scene to assist investigations,” he said in a statement today.

Kamarul said the victim was believed to have been beaten with blunt objects.

The suspects are now being remanded for seven days until April 11 to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Further investigations are underway, including the motive of the incident.” – The Vibes, April 5, 2022
