KUALA LUMPUR – Amid talks of Umno naming Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as its prime ministerial candidate, Terengganu Bersatu has another man in mind.

State Bersatu chief Datuk Razali Idris said party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should resume his role as prime minister and the Perikatan Nasional coalition should name him candidate.

He added that Muhyiddin, being a former prime minister, is a capable candidate to lead the country again.

Razali told Utusan Malaysia that Muhyiddin was not rejected by the people but his resignation on August 16 last year was due to the loss of confidence in the Dewan Rakyat.

“He was only rejected by 15 MPs, so I don’t think it is wrong for me to nominate our party president as prime minister.

“In fact, during his term, Muhyiddin did not do anything that contradicts his integrity, or get involved in corrupt activities or abused his power,” Razali told reporters after a moreh event last night in Kuala Terengganu.

On April 1, Pejuang chairman and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed that Muhyiddin had sought support to again helm the country.

“When he was PM, a lot of people were unsatisfied with his leadership. He was not a good PM, and that is why nobody wants him as PM again; if he achieved great things for Malaysia, I am confident he doesn’t need my support to win.

“We are not thinking about that, we are not going to support somebody as a prime minister who was as much of a failure as (Datuk Seri) Najib (Razak) was,” he said during a press conference at Yayasan Albukhary here. – The Vibes, April 16, 2022
