KOTA BARU – The Kelantan Health Department denied that it had issued a directive on the enforcement of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in the state, which went viral on WhatsApp today.

Its director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the department and National Security Council (MKN) had never issued such a directive, purportedly to commence at 12am today.

“I hope members of the public will not be influenced by the fake news. It was likely spread by irresponsible parties to create panic among the people of Kelantan,” he said.

Earlier today, a viral message, claiming that the Kelantan Health Department with MKN had agreed to implement the CMCO in the state due to the increasing COVID-19 cases effective November 17 at midnight, made its rounds on the WhatsApp application.

The CMCO is currently being implemented in all states in the peninsula except Kelantan, Pahang, and Perlis, which are placed under the recovery MCO. – Bernama, November 16, 2020
