KUALA LUMPUR – The Umno Supreme Council has accepted the resignation of Tan Sri Zulhasnan Rafique as chairman of the party’s disciplinary board.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan in a statement said Zulhasnan would be replaced by Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun.

“The council records its thanks to Zulhasnan for his service. In his place, the meeting agreed to appoint Hafarizam as the new disciplinary board chairman,” Ahmad said following a Supreme Council meeting last night.

Hafarizam is best known as Umno’s legal adviser and has represented former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in civil cases.

In July last year, Hafarizam was freed from a RM15 million money-laundering case after he agreed to pay a RM590,000 compound.
