KUALA LUMPUR – Eligible civil servants can receive a maximum of RM2,500 in cash assistance from the government for the coming year, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said when tabling Budget 2023 today.
Called “Bantuan Khas” or special assistance, he said it is meant to show gratitude to civil servants who have been at the frontlines in ensuring the nation’s stability and prosperity.
The cash aid includes a special Aidilfitri assistance of RM600, payable in March next year.
Other categories of the cash assistance are for civil servants of Grade 56 and below who will receive RM700, while former public servants will receive RM350.
The special assistance will amount to a RM1.3 billion total allocation.
The government has also agreed to raise salaries by RM100 for civil servants in Grades 11 to 56, effective January next year.
The government will also provide a subsidy of RM100 each for civil servants who subscribe to personal accident insurance under the Public Sector Housing Financing Board. This move will benefit some 40,000 civil servants. – The Vibes, October 7, 2022
