KUALA LUMPUR – Muda announced its last and sixth candidate, with Perak chief Mutalib Uthman set to be shipped to Melaka to contest the Masjid Tanah parliamentary seat for the 15th general election.

With odds heavily against him, Mutalib is set to take on incumbent Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Umno’s Abdul Hakim Abdul Wahid, and Pejuang’s Handrawirawan Abu Bakar for the seat.

Mas Ermieyati will seek to retain her grip on the seat for a third term under the Perikatan Nasional banner, having won previously under Umno’s banner.

The PH-Muda alliance had suffered a minor hiccup, when Mutalib prematurely announced his candidacy for the Tapah federal seat via Facebook.

He subsequently apologised and reiterated that Tapah will be contested by PH’s component party PKR instead.

According to the party in a brief statement, Mutalib is a co-founder of Muda as a member in the party’s central executive committee. – The Vibes, November 3, 2022
