KUALA LUMPUR – The Energy Commission has sent its investigation report on the case of two young brothers who died from electrocution in Bangi on September 30, to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further legal action.
The commission said in a statement today that it had completed its investigation into the incident and that it was being investigated under the Electricity Regulations 1994.
“If convicted, a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year, or both, may be imposed on the guilty party,” read the statement.
In the incident at Jalan Sg Merab, Kg Ternas Jernang, Bangi, the first victim died from shock when holding a metal clothes hanger connected to the charged zinc roof of the house, while the second victim, his younger brother, also died from shock while trying to save his brother.
In the meantime, the commission reminded homeowners not to make any renovations or additional structures that could affect the low voltage overhead electric line belonging to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) or other installations such as meters and poles.
According to the commission, homeowners need to file a request with TNB to move any electrical installations, and members of the public who disrupt supply or damage property with any activities near electrical installations can face legal action. – Bernama, January 27, 2023
