KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has made another allegation of being left in the cold, this time about efforts to kick him out of the National Finance Council.
Despite that, he did not provide details on his claims, only to say there are plans to replace Kedah’s representation on the council with state secretary Datuk Norizan Khazali.
Sanusi was reported as saying by Berita Harian that there are lobbying efforts to get Sultan of Kedah Sultan Sallehuddin Badlishah to that end.
“They would accuse me of not having any proof, but how would I provide proof of something that hasn’t happened? But I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen,” he told reporters after an iftar event in Shah Alam yesterday.
Earlier in his speech, Sanusi claimed that this was due to his public criticism of the federal government as well as accusing Barisan Nasional (BN) of discrimination.
“BN fell after 50 years due to its discrimination, and leaders who oppressed others will be rejected at every election.
“If they are not overthrown in elections, they will be overthrown constitutionally through Parliament because information (on discrimination) spreads fast.”
Article 108 of the federal constitution stipulates that the National Finance Council must be headed by the prime minister or any appointed minister, while each state is represented by an individual approved by the Sultan or Yang di-Pertua Negeri.
Previously, Sanusi claimed he was barred from attending any federal government events, including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, expected to be held in May.
In response, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said he did not understand why Sanusi was claiming such, as everyone is invited during official work visits to Kedah by his ministry.
