THE applications of Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Khairy Jamaluddin and other former UMNO leaders to rejoin the party will be brought up at the UMNO Supreme Council (MKT) meeting on April 17.

Its Vice President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, said that discussions will be held based on the spirit of Rumah Bangsa, but it is not certain whether the decision on their applications will be made at the meeting or otherwise.

“I will bring (in the MKT Meeting) the spirit of Rumah Bangsa, the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the spirit of Ramadan. We see this as something positive,” he told a press conference after the JanaVeteran Project Launching Ceremony at Felda Air Tawar, Telok Sengat today.

Asked how many had sent in the application, Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Minister of Defence, said UMNO was still collecting applications.

He also informed that there was no set period for any former leader or member to send in their application.

Hishammuddin, former UMNO Information Chief, Shahril Sufian Hamdan, Jempol Division UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif and former Tebrau Division UMNO Chief, Datuk Maulizan Bujang had their memberships suspended for six years.

Meanwhile, former Selangor State UMNO Liaison Chairman, Tan Sri Noh Omar and Khairy Jamaluddin were sacked by UMNO following disciplinary violations during the 15th General Election (GE15).

The actions were decided by the UMNO Supreme Council on 27 January 2023. – March 28, 2026
