FORMER Johor Bersatu Associate Chief, Datuk Tan Lek Khang, was injured after he was believed to have shot himself in the chest today.

It is understood that the incident occurred while Lek Khang was conducting a shooting training session at a shooting range at 3pm today.

He was rushed to the Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) in Johor Bahru and is receiving treatment and is reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, the Kota Tinggi District Police Chief said that a press statement would be issued soon.

On February 13, Lek Khang announced his resignation and exit from Bersatu with immediate effect following the loss of confidence in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership.

In the 2022 Johor State Election (PRN), Lek Khang was a candidate representing Perikatan Nasional (PN) for the Bekok State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seat, but lost to Barisan Nasional (BN). – April 28, 2026
