A 45-year-old motorcyclist was injured after being slashed with a meat cleaver following a dispute with another rider along the motorcycle lane of the Federal Highway near Section 13, Shah Alam, yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief, ACP Sarudin Samah, said police were alerted about the incident at about 8.19 am.

Investigations revealed that the incident occurred at about 7 am while the victim was on his way to work in Kuala Lumpur.

"The victim honked at another motorcyclist who was allegedly obstructing his path. The suspect, a 43-year-old man, was dissatisfied with the victim's action, and an argument ensued," he said.

The suspect then stopped by the roadside before allegedly attacking the victim with a meat cleaver.

"The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for further treatment.

"We have detained the suspect and are conducting further investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon," he said.

He urged those with information related to the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohammad Amirul Zulkifli at 012-558 3436 or the nearest police station. – June 12, 2026
