MIRI – A delegation of state ministers and trade officials from Sarawak is on a working visit to Los Angeles in the United States for ideas on urban renewal as well as coastal management.
Led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, they have been scheduled to survey various locations and meet local experts since arriving there on July 16.
In an update to the press, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit said that Awang Tengah and the delegation will end their official trip on July 22.
“The Sarawak government is interested in learning urban renewal ideas from Los Angeles,” it said.
“We are also interested in how the Los Angeles city authorities handle coastal development projects there.
“The delegation will also visit various agencies and groups in Los Angeles to discuss matters relating to trade and investments.
It noted that Sarawak wants to expand trade with the US in sectors relating to timber, mining, energy generation, petroleum, and petrochemical.
Awang Tengah has since met up with the Malaysian consulate general officials and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation in Los Angeles.
He also held a meeting with consul general Anil Fahriza Adenan.
Awang Tengah briefed them on the latest trade and investment projects in Sarawak and future plans to draw more foreign investments. – The Vibes, July 20, 2022
