SERDANG – Incumbent Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin has thanked Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who assured that he would be given a seat to contest in the coming 15th general election (GE15).

“I am thankful to him,” he said briefly to reporters when asked about Mohamad’s assurance.

This follows after Mohamad, fondly known as Tok Mat, said the party will find a suitable constituency for Khairy to contest, stating that the party does not want him to simply “disappear”.

Mohamad is also Rembau Umno division chief while Khairy served as his deputy.

However, when pressed further on where he would possibly contest, Khairy refused to respond further.

“I have nothing more to say on the matter,” he said.

Khairy was speaking during a press conference after launching Serdang Hospital’s new cardiology centre here today in his capacity as the caretaker health minister.

In his speech to delegates at the Rembau Umno division meeting last Sunday, Khairy confirmed that he would be giving the seat back to Mohamad for the latter to contest.

“That’s the family spirit in Rembau. We are (civilised). Alhamdulillah, we will make sure that the machinery in Rembau is further improved, and there will be no more Rembau seat issues,” he said as quoted by Bernama. – The Vibes, October 17, 2022
