Ex-Kedah Amanah chief Datuk Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi was terminated for violating the party’s constitution after he allegedly instructed state party leaders and members to boycott an event announcing Pakatan Harapan state candidates, which took place in Merbok last Saturday, as a reprisal against giving up the Jerai seat to DAP to contest. – Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi Facebook pic, November 1, 2022

JERLUN – Former Kedah Amanah chief Datuk Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi is welcomed to join his “nemesis” to continue his political career, said Kedah Umno deputy chairman Datuk Othman Aziz.

Othman was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that Umno was surprised by the dismissal of the Alor Mengkudu state assemblyman for speaking up about the Jerai-Alor Gajah seat swap between Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Amanah and DAP ahead of the general election.

“I think it is appropriate for him (to oppose the decision), but when Amanah made a decision to sack him, to us, that is the business and prerogative of the respective parties.

“But for me, on behalf of Kedah Umno, I would welcome Datuk Phahrolrazi (to the party), if he wants to be with us,” he told reporters after attending a meeting with members of the Kg Pering voting centre near Jerlun today.

Othman said Phahrolrazi is a political veteran who was a PAS member, before joining Amanah.

“I have confidence in Phahrolrazi, this is because he has been around for a long time and understands the politics of Kedah. If he wants to be with us, of course, we welcome him.”

Phahrolrazi, who was Kedah Amanah chief, allegedly instructed state party leaders and members to boycott an event to announce PH state candidates, which took place in Merbok last Saturday, as a reprisal against giving up the Jerai seat to DAP to contest.

A day later, Phahrolrazi’s Amanah membership was terminated for violating the party constitution. – The Vibes, November 1, 2022
