KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin will be defending his Kinabatangan seat in the 15th general election (GE15), as one of Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 11 candidates in the state.

Datuk Arthur Kurup from Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) would also be defending his Pensiangan seat, while Umno’s Datuk Mohd Alamin is holding his ground in Kimanis.

Umno is also fielding Jamawi Jaafar, the party’s former Kemabong assemblyman, for the Tenom federal seat.

Umno will be contesting in 10 seats and PBRS only one seat, Bung Moktar said today at the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-BN candidate announcement here today.

Other Sabah Umno assemblymen to be fielded in a federal seat are Karambunai representative Datuk Yakub Khan and Tanjung Keramat assemblyman Datuk Shahelmy Yahya.

Yakub will be contesting in the Sepanggar seat and will face Warisan’s Datuk Azis Jamman in GE15, while Shahelmy will be contesting the Putatan seat.

Sabah Umno is also fielding fresh faces, namely Siti Aminah Aching in Beaufort, Suhaimi Nasir in Libaran, and Maizatul Akmam in Lahad Datu.

Umno will also be contesting in the Bugaya by-election where the party is fielding Abdul Aziz Mohd Ibno in the state seat.

For Kalabakan, Umno will field Aslan Samsul Alang as its candidate.

Bung Mokhtar said only the Beluran parliamentary is without a candidate for the moment as talks are still ongoing. – The Vibes, November 2, 2022
