KLUANG – Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad is confident that the state will be the key to the coalition winning the coming general election (GE15).

Hasni, who is also BN’s candidate for the Simpang Renggam parliamentary seat, said the people of Johor want a stable government and the progressive and advanced BN-led state government has already proven to be one, after winning the state election last March.

“In the Johor election, BN took the lead, winning 40 of the 56 state seats. This not only restored the state as a BN stronghold, but it will also be the key to BN’s victory in GE15,” he told reporters after attending a feast at Kg Parit Salman here today.

The former Johor menteri besar said that in the next one or two terms, the state would see a bright future as BN youths would continue to develop the state and aid the country’s growth.

During a meet-and-greet session with Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituents on Wednesday, caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he wanted Johor to return to being an Umno and BN stronghold and contribute to the coalition’s victory in GE15.

Commenting on Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong’s statement that Pakatan Harapan needs a voter turnout of at least 70% to win GE15, Hasni said this was immaterial as voters would stay loyal to BN.

A total of 2,616,576 ordinary voters, including military, police personnel, and their spouses, are eligible to cast their ballot in Johor for GE15. – Bernama, November 11, 2022
