KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) website to check voter registration has been down for a few hours, alarming voters who wanted to check their respective voting centres and streams.

The MySPR Semak website is believed to have been down since noon today, with many taking to social media to question the issue as Malaysians are expected to vote tomorrow.

Attempts to access the website resulted in a bad gateway and server error.

Twitter user @johariszulkiply has also alerted that the EC mobile app is down along with the website.

“Is the EC website down? I can’t access it. The same goes for the app.”

Another netizen @boujiemonji shared that the website has been down since noon.

“The EC website to check the voting locality has crashed for the past two hours. What’s happening @sprgovmy?”

An EC spokesman told The Vibes that the website was taken offline for maintenance work ahead of the polling day tomorrow as means to prevent any technical disruption during the polling period.

The spokesman said that a statement will be issued soon while the website is expected to return to normal shortly as well. – The Vibes, November 18, 2022
