KUALA LUMPUR – A new Treasury secretary-general is expected to be announced soon.

Officials in Putrajaya said Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, having advised the prime minister, is expected to make an announcement to this effect in the next few days.

Present Treasury secretary-general Datuk Seri Asri Hamidin @ Hamidon is expected to be redesignated or transferred.

Asri, 56, was appointed on May 1, 2020 by the administration of then prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and he served under then finance minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Asri was not present to welcome Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Finance Ministry in Putrajaya yesterday when the latter clocked in as finance minister.

Neither was he present at the meeting that followed.

However, ministry officials said this was because Asri was already on leave at that time.

“Any announcement about changes in roles pertaining to the civil service will be made by the chief secretary to the government,” said one official. – The Vibes, December 7, 2022
