KUALA LUMPUR – Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of former Umno president and ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, was spotted entering the party headquarters here prior to its Supreme Council meeting scheduled for tonight.

Rosmah, wearing a green baju kurung, arrived at around 8pm and was accompanied by her aides.

She also requested to not be photographed by media members stationed at Menara Dato’ Onn in anticipation of the first Umno Supreme Council meeting since newly minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the cabinet line-up for his unity government.

“No pictures, no pictures”, said Rosmah, who has no official position in the Barisan Nasional (BN) linchpin, as photographers continued snapping images of her unanticipated presence.

It is not ascertained if Rosmah is attending the meeting or if she is here to attend to other matters.

Rosmah is currently appealing the guilty verdict handed to her over graft charges involving the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project.

Meanwhile, Najib is currently serving his jail sentence in Kajang Prison after the Federal Court upheld in August his conviction and sentence for misappropriating RM42 million in funds linked to SRC International Bhd.

Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi had announced the meeting in a Facebook post this morning.

He also called for the party’s Supreme Council to continue pushing for the unity government it is part of to resolve issues surrounding former attorney-general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and other legal matters.

Among other Umno leaders seen arriving at Menara Dato’ Onn tonight were vice-president Datuk Mohd Khaled Nordin and Supreme Council members Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh and Datuk Rosnah Shirlin.

Terengganu Umno chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has also joined the meeting. – The Vibes, December 8, 2022
