KUALA LUMPUR – Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of ex-prime minister and former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, met party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi prior to the party’s Supreme Council meeting last night.

In a Facebook post today, Rosmah’s aide Rahimi Osman said Rosmah had visited the Umno headquarters here to briefly meet Zahid, who is also deputy prime minister under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet.

“Many people are saying that (Rosmah) was part of the (Umno) Supreme Council meeting, but she actually arrived (at Menara Dato’ Onn) even before the meeting started just to meet (Zahid),” Rahimi said.

“She had nothing to do with the meeting. She only met Zahid for about 10 minutes (before) leaving in her vehicle waiting in the basement.”

Rahimi was a former aide to Anwar in 2007 and was said to be a close associate with the Pakatan Harapan leader before an apparent fallout in 2010.

Last night, Rosmah was spotted entering the Umno headquarters around 8pm. She requested to not be photographed by media members stationed at the location.

Rosmah is currently appealing the guilty verdict handed to her over graft charges involving the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project.

Meanwhile, Najib is currently serving his jail sentence in Kajang Prison after the Federal Court upheld in August his conviction and sentence for misappropriating RM42 million in funds linked to SRC International Bhd.

Last night, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi said Zahid will be taking a stricter approach against members who tarnish the party’s image, including by smearing the party’s name and revealing matters discussed during internal meetings.

It was announced by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan today that Umno veteran Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who has been with the party since 1979, is one of three party leaders sacked from the party

Annuar has since taken to his Facebook page and put up what appears to be a veiled metaphor for his removal, about a dream he claimed to have had last night about his “house being on fire”. – The Vibes, December 9, 2022
