KUALA LUMPUR – The fun fair in Bandar Puncak Alam where three people including a child fell from a ride was operating without approval, Selangor executive councillor Ng Sze Han said today.

The state’s local government and public transport committee chairman said the fun fair did not have approval from the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council.

“The council has taken action enforcement action against the operator by imposing a compound and sealing the premises,” Ng said in a statement.

He warned that the state government would act against theme park and fun fair operators as well as the premise owners who operated these activities without local council approval.

“We are giving this warning because this involves public safety,” he said.

He reminded all such activities that are operating without local council approval to cease immediately.

In last night’s incident, two women and a child were injured after they fell from a “sotong ride” which was in motion at the fun fair at Puncak Alam.

Kuala Selangor police chief Ramli Kasa said the case would be investigated according to Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment & Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 for operating without a license.

The victims were taken to the Shah Alam Hospital.

Meanwhile, the family of the injured are mulling legal action against the fun fair operator, according to Sinar Harian.

Faizah Mat Sam, the mother of two of the victims told the news portal this – adding that one child had suffered a blow to the head, while another sustained injuries to his leg and eye.

She also had another daughter on the same ride, Nurazliyana, 17, who sat behind the other two.

Nurazliyana told Sinar Harian that she heard the sound of iron snapping less than a minute after the ride started, and saw her sister and brother sitting who were n front of her being flung out of their seats. – The Vibes, December 13, 2022
