KUALA TERENGGANU – Residents of several areas in Terengganu are urged to prepare for possible floods and heed authorities’ instructions following rising river water levels in several areas in Besut, Setiu, Kemaman and Hulu Terengganu.

In a Facebook post, the Terengganu Irrigation and Drainage Department said the stations at Sg Telemong, Kg Sg Ping and Sg Berang, Kg Menerong in Hulu Terengganu district have recorded above-danger level readings as of 8am today.

In Setiu, the rivers that exceed the danger level are Sg Nerus in Kg Langkap, Sg Chalok at Jambatan Chalok and Sg Setiu at Jambatan Permaisuri, while in Besut, the rivers are Sg Besut in Kg Keruak and Sg Besut in Kg La.

Sg Tumpat in Kg Baru, Kemasek in Kemaman and Sg Peneh in Felda Mengkawang are currently at the warning level, while Sg Nerus in Kg Bukit in Setiu is at the alert level. – Bernama, December 18, 2022
