KUALA LUMPUR – Former environment and water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has been panned by Malaysian netizens for his comments on MYAirline flight attendants’ uniforms.
Flying for the first time on the newly established airline, Tuan Ibrahim, who is PAS deputy president, had congratulated its management for supposedly implementing a modest uniform for its aircrew.
“First time flying @FlyMYAirline. Congratulations, the flight attendants’ uniforms are more modest and this is a good start. Hope they will continue to succeed,” he said on Twitter.

This, however, had garnered an intense response from netizens who questioned the PAS leader’s priority when using an airline.
“I will be worried more about the punctuality, service, convenience, and most importantly the price, before the air stewardesses’ clothing… it is like sitting in a taxi but the driver is not wearing his uniform but that’s fine as long as it is safe… perhaps my nafsu (desire) is not normal,” said Twitter user @JeddTe in jest.

Another netizen, @fez_fs urged Tuan Ibrahim to opt for an age-old practice as advised by Muslim philosopher Imam Al Ghazali to simply lower his gaze.

At the time of writing, Tuan Ibrahim’s tweet had garnered over 113,000 views.
In the past, PAS had repeatedly complained that uniforms worn by flight attendants of local airlines were too revealing compared to other airlines.
Numerous lawmakers and non-governmental organisations often rebuke such comments by PAS and instead urge them to focus on more pressing affairs such as the rising cost of living, among other things. – The Vibes, January 4, 2023
