BUKIT MERTAJAM – Despite losing the Permatang Pauh seat in the last general election, Nurul Izzah Anwar has not given up on lending a hand to her former constituents.
She recently came to the aid of 15 motorcyclists after their motorcycles were razed in a pre-dawn fire at Flat Tuna Seberang Jaya.
“It is their only mode of transport to work, to send their children to school, and to bring ailing family members to hospital.”
Nurul Izzah responded with help from fellow PKR leader, Machang Bubuk assemblyman Lee Khai Loon.
She explained that those affected are families from low-income groups, and they are unable to purchase replacement motorcycles immediately.
Although they had also reached out to the current MP, some also came to her because of the need to find fast solutions to their plight.
In this case, Nurul Izzah and Lee managed to raise up to RM30,000 before they negotiated with a Kriss motorcycle dealer here.
They managed to get a discount of RM500 for each of the motorcycles they purchased.
The duo also handed over each bike with a full tank of petrol.
Nurul Izzah said that many Permatang Pauh residents have sought her assistance despite no longer being their representative.
“I realise that I am no longer the Permatang Pauh MP but the people there will always have a place in my heart.” – The Vibes, February 27, 2023
