GEORGE TOWN – All civil servants in Penang will be getting a minimum of RM1,500 or 75% of their monthly salaries as part of special aid ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

The payout, which will be given on April 17, will include those working for the local councils and state statutory bodies, said Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

The state government has allocated RM10.95 million for this purpose.

Chow said in a statement that a special aid of RM300 will be allocated to supervisors and teachers of al-Quran and Fardu Ain classes, religious primary and secondary school teachers and staffers, and tahfiz, pondok and Islam kindergarten teachers, as well as teachers and staff of private Chinese schools in Penang.

He added that the payout is to reward the state civil service for its commitment to helping Penang realise its Vision 2030 development goals.

By 2030, Penang intends to become a global intelligent city emphasising on technology, quality living, environment preservation and family institution. – The Vibes, April 6, 2023
