KUALA LUMPUR – A video of a road accident involving a top-of-the-line Mack truck believed to belong to the Johor royal family has made the rounds on social media.
A video of the incident posted by a local automotive Instagram page @careta_malays has gained over 80,000 views since it was uploaded early this morning.
The Mack truck portrayed in the video appears to be a different model than the three customised ones state ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Panglima Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim drove during the annual Kembara Mahkota Johor royal tour in 2016.
Kulai district police chief Tok Beng Yeow has since confirmed that the incident, which saw the truck crashing into two other vehicles, happened on the North-South Expressway at 6.50pm yesterday.

In a statement, he said that the accident is believed to have been caused by one of the truck’s many tires exploding, leading to the driver losing control and ramming into the other vehicles.
“Based on initial site investigations, we suspect that the accident happened when the truck’s tyre burst as the vehicle was moving southbound,” Tok was quoted as saying by Oriental Daily.
The 39-year-old truck driver was not injured while the two other vehicles involved in the crash – a Nissan and a Perodua Myvi – suffered damages.
He also said that the incident is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59) for failing to exercise control over a vehicle’s movement, an offence akin to negligent driving. – The Vibes, April 14, 2023
