PUTRAJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) did indeed visit Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar’s home yesterday as part of investigations into a foreign worker recruitment scheme.

A senior MACC official told The Vibes that this was part of the normal process of investigations.

“There was no raid per se, it was a normal visit. Nothing dramatic,” said the official.

He declined to say more, saying investigations were ongoing.

It is learnt that the visit was part of charting any purported money trail to see if there were documents and items related to the probe.

Sivakumar had earlier today refuted media reports claiming his house was raided.

“No, no,” he said briefly when pressed by reporters at an event at Le Meridien Hotel, here today.

Several news organisations had reported today that the minister’s home was raided by MACC officers after he gave his statement to the anti-graft agency yesterday.

This was following the arrests of two of his aides – his special functions officer and private secretary – as well as a foreign worker recruitment agent. Their remand orders end today.

They have since been released from remand.

It is learnt that both Sivakumar’s home and office were visited by the MACC. The Batu Gajah MP had spent over six hours being questioned at the MACC headquarters here.

“(I was) not arrested, it was just to give a statement,” Sivakumar had said of his questioning by the MACC.

“I will give my full cooperation. The Human Resources Ministry will also give its cooperation in the investigation, no problem.” – The Vibes, April 17, 2023
