KUALA LUMPUR – The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry welcomes the public to lodge complaints on any insufficient supply of items listed under the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The ministry’s Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Baringave an assurance that the ministry’s officers will respond to such complaints, reported The Borneo Post yesterday.

He said that the 30 items listed under the price control scheme nationwide will be implemented for 16 days – from April 15 to 30.

Items such as chicken, eggs, imported beef, tomatoes, red chillies, long beans, cucumbers, coconuts, and grated coconut are among the controlled goods.

The public is encouraged to report to the ministry if they face any problems like supply shortage or retailers selling listed items for rates higher than the government-set ceiling price, he added.

He stated that the officers will be on ground every day in Mukah, Sarawak, to ensure that traders follow the scheme.

Meanwhile, Nurul Syarina Md Anuar, the chief enforcement officer of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry’s Kuala Lumpur office paid a visit to a market in Chow Kit today.

According to the Twitter post, the inspection was held to survey the prices and price tags of price controlled items, in addition to checking weighing instruments and ensuring traders do not sell above the maximum price during the festive season. – The Vibes, April 19, 2023
