KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu’s supreme council (MPT) has agreed to postpone elections for party divisions and the supreme council, but excluding branches, for a period of not more than 18 months in accordance with clause 14.15 of the party’s constitution.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, in a statement today, said the agreement was reached after a supreme council meeting chaired by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
“Bersatu is fully prepared to face the elections in six states that will take place soon with all the strength of the party machinery being streamlined involving all the states in order to become a powerful force,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional are confident of a big win in the state elections as they defend Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah and work hard to capture Selangor, Negri Sembilan and Penang.
Bersatu also invited members of the public to the Perikatan Nasional open house on May 21 at Raja Muda Musa Hall, Selangor Youth and Cultural Complex, Section 7, Shah Alam from 8pm to 11pm. – Bernama, May 13, 2023
