ACTRESS, content creator and now-DJ Ms Puiyi has set up a scholarship fund to aid students around the world.

The fund, which totals US$1 million (about RM4.4 million) will be granted to students regardless of their field of study or interests.

"As someone growing up in the outskirts of Malaysia, my family was not privileged enough to fund my studies in medicine," the 24-year-old, whose real name is Siew Pui Yi, announced on her TikTok account.

With no money to pay for medical school, she pursued business studies, which had lower fees, and worked part-time as a fashion model.

"Now that I'm able to make a difference, I wish to give back to society by starting this scholarship to students who need it the most."

Through her partnership with Educapital Foundation, they will be offering scholarships to underprivileged students from all over the world including Malaysia.

Each student will receive US$1,000 (RM4,400) to pursue whichever field they are interested in, and they will also be provided with a hardship grant during their studies.

"There will also be a business startup grant upon graduation," she said.

Applicants must reveal their field of study, such as artist management, medical assistant, or cannabis culinary, during the application process. The scholarship is also only valid for 30 days, according to the website.

Pui Yi previously made headlines when she announced that she was closing down her OnlyFans page to focus on her career as a DJ. She has also dabbled in acting, with roles in the upcoming horror film Pulau and KL Love Story.

Pui Yi has over 20 million Instagram followers and over 1.4 million TikTok followers.
