THREE men, each armed with a parang robbed a nursery and even slapped a female teacher in an incident at Tali Air 11, Pasir Panjang in Sabak Bernam, yesterday.

The incident at about 9.35am reportedly occurred when two female teachers and a kitchen assistant were waiting for children to arrive at the nursery.

Sabak Bernam Police Chief Md Yusof Ahmad said his department received an emergency call from a teacher who reported being robbed by three local men in a Perodua Bezza.

"The three suspects armed with machetes rushed into the premises and stole two gold chains and a mobile phone belonging to the two teachers.

"The police received information that one of the suspects armed with a machete acted aggressively by slapping the female teacher involved twice on the left and right cheeks," he said in a statement.

According to him, initial investigations found that during the incident there were two teachers, a kitchen helper and 10 children at the premises.

"However, no children were injured, but two nursery teachers suffered losses after the suspect stole their jewellery and Realme mobile phones," he said.

Md Yusof said the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.

"If convicted, they could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, as well as a fine and whipping," he said.

He said efforts to track down the suspects were still ongoing and members of the public with information have been urged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
