KUALA LUMPUR – It is business as usual at several district police headquarters in the Klang Valley on the first day of this year’s movement control order (MCO).
Checks by The Vibes today revealed that unlike the crowds of people filling up the offices during the initial phase of the MCO in March last year, it is a more orderly affair this time around.
A visit to the Serdang police headquarters saw a few people trickling in, mostly to report accident cases and filling in applications to inform the death of individuals.
According to officers manning the guard post at the station, police have been more flexible in giving movement permission, especially for business purposes.
“The new set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for travel is more flexible for some businesses. However, we remain strict in deciding on movement permits, as we are tasked to ensure lesser movement.
“Either way, we fully abide by SOPs set by the government,” said two officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Petaling Jaya police headquarters saw a similar situation, as people went about their business as usual.
Meanwhile, a security company manager, who wanted to be known only as Raja, said police are very accommodating to his movement requests, but remain strict.
“They looked at movement requests for my entire security team on a case-by-case basis. They allowed some, but limited others due to enforcement purposes.
“As such, I have to adjust my team’s schedule accordingly.” – The Vibes, January 13, 2021
