KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has promised that at least 50% of the entire budget for basic federal development will be allocated to Sarawak, Sabah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

Speaking at the launch of Keluarga Malaysia in Kuching, Sarawak tonight, the prime minister said the allocation will focus on basic infrastructure, digitalisation, education, healthcare services and economic development.

“The socio-economic development of this country in less developed states will be given priority.

“Sarawak is among the six states besides Sabah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis that will be given special attention to narrow the development gap between states, districts, urban and rural, so that everyone can fairly enjoy our economic benefits,” said Ismail Sabri.

He later launched the Keluarga Malaysia Foundation to assist children who lost their parents due to Covid-19.

The prime minister pointed out that 5,173 minors have lost their parents due to the virus.

The Bera MP also shared the stories of 19-year-old Nazurah Nabilah Benyajeed who is now forced to care for her seven younger siblings, and 11-year-old Hadrami Hasil who is now acting as the head of the family for his four siblings.

“What they lost is not just their parents, but the happy memories and growing as children,” he said.

With the launch of the Keluarga Malaysia Foundation, Ismail Sabri said it will be an institution tasked with assisting children to be given necessary support, particularly on education until they turn 18.

He also said that the foundation is also the manifestation of love based on the government’s Keluarga Malaysia theme, and the foundation will also assist other children in need soon.

“My hope is that with the Keluarga Malaysia Foundation, there is no child who is forced to suffer alone,” he added. – The Vibes, October 23, 2021
