KUALA LUMPUR – More than 1,010 police officers will be deployed tomorrow for the #TangkapAzamBaki rally.
The officers will come from the Kuala Lumpur contingent and Bukit Aman.
Police have also obtained a court order prohibiting any assemblies at Dataran Merdeka, Sogo, and Masjid Jamek.
Dang Wangi headquarters police chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahya told a press conference that the order from the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court takes effect for seven days beginning tomorrow.
Additionally, ahead of the #TangkapAzamBaki protest tomorrow, Dang Wangi police have ordered road diversions beginning at 7am tomorrow.
The roads which will be diverted are Jalan Kuching, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Hang Tuah, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Sultan Ismail.
Similarly, certain MRT, LRT, monorail, and KTM Komuter stations will be closed temporarily.
For the LRT Ampang Line/Sri Petaling station, closures apply to the Pudu, Hang Tuah, Masjid Jamek, Plaza Rakyat, Bandaraya and Sultan Ismail stations.
Meanwhile, on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, stations set to be closed are Kg Baru, Dang Wangi, Masjid Jamek and Pasar Seni.
As for the MRT Sg Buloh-Kajang Line, closures would apply to the Bukit Bintang, Merdeka and Pasar Seni stations.
Monorail station closures will include Medan Tuanku, Bukit Nanas, Raja Chulan, Bukit Bintang, Imbi, Hang Tuah, Maharajalela, Tun Sambanthan and KL Sentral.
For KTM Komuter, closures apply to the Kuala Lumpur, Bank Negara and Putra stations.
These station closures begin at 7am tomorrow.
Touching on investigations into tomorrow’s protest, Dellhan revealed that 16 individuals have given statements to police so far, five of which comprise politicians.
However, as investigations are still underway, Dellhan refused to reveal the five names.
