KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians overseas who wish to cast ballots for the 15th general election (GE15) have until October 23 to register with the Election Commission (EC) as postal voters.
The registration deadline applies to those in category 1B, which encompasses Malaysians living abroad.
According to the EC, the postal voting registration for GE15 was opened on October 10, the day Parliament was dissolved. Registration for postal voters in the Bugaya by-election was opened on October 13.
There are 2,741 registered overseas voters, the EC said.
Another category of postal voters is 1A, which consists of election staff, police and army personnel, and media workers, for whom registration will be closed on November 2.
Category 1C is for those working in agencies or organisations, for whom registration will close on October 26.
Those who wish to apply for postal voting can do so at https://myspr.spr.gov.my/login.
Earlier today, the EC announced that Malaysia will go to the polls on November 19, with early voting occurring on November 15.
This includes the Perak, Perlis and Pahang elections, along with the Bugaya by-election in Sabah.
