JOHOR BARU – All kadi in Johor have been told to refer to their respective district health offices to identify mosques and surau with suspected Covid-19 cases.

State Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad said that the decree was issued by Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar following several Covid-19 cases involving imam, bilal, committee members and congregants.

Yahya, in a statement, said those who tested positive have been ordered to undergo quarantine by the Health Ministry, while the surau and mosques involved were instructed to be sanitised immediately.

“The kadi can also order that the mosque or surau involved set a limit on the number of congregants allowed to participate in the five daily congregational prayers and Friday prayers.

“If the situation is more critical, the kadi can also order that the mosque or surau be closed for a reasonable period so that action can be taken until the situation is under control.

“The congregants should perform prayers at home”. – Bernama, November 27, 2020
