KUALA LUMPUR – Former Alor Star MP Chan Ming Kai, who was dropped by Pakatan Harapan (PH) from contesting in the latest national polls (GE15), has been appointed as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary.
The matter was revealed in a Facebook post by Anwar today, where the PH leader said that Chan was among three of his political secretaries who had taken their oaths of secrecy at Putrajaya this morning.
“It is hoped that they will be able to carry out their responsibilities well and humbly,” Anwar said.
The Vibes had previously reported that Chan was among other incumbent PKR lawmakers who were overlooked as candidates for GE15 by party elections director Rafizi Ramli, who is also Anwar’s number two in the party.
Sources from within the party had claimed that there was an evident bias towards the pro-Rafizi faction in the selection of election candidates as those dropped from running in GE15 were allegedly aligned to PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Besides Chan, two others who had taken their oaths of secrecy before Anwar and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali were PKR’s international bureau chairman Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin (former Hang Tuah Jaya MP) and Ahmad Farhan Fauzi.
Shamsul had earlier confirmed with The Vibes that he was appointed to the role on December 1 while Farhan is being reappointed to the position. – The Vibes, December 23, 2022
