PUTRAJAYA – The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has been asked to reconsider organising press conferences periodically as it has been done in the past.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the matter was proposed to Acryl as the Home Ministry intends to build a more conducive working relationship with the media.
The senator also admitted to receiving a lot of feedback, especially from the media fraternity and felt that their request was reasonable.
At the same time, he also realised the logic behind the cancellation of the sessions after hearing views from the police force on it.
“At the present juncture – where the ministry hopes to build a more conducive working relationship with the media as strategic partners – I directly proposed to the IGP a session that all media partners can attend.
“I gave the IGP the opportunity to consider the proposal and I hope it can be implemented in the near future,” he told the press following the ministry’s media engagement programme, yesterday.
During his speech earlier, Saifuddin said he was aware of the frequency of press conferences organised by Bukit Aman before it ceased due to undisclosed reasons. – The Vibes, February 16, 2023
