PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) has confirmed it has yet to receive any application from Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin to join the coalition, despite mounting speculation over his political alignment following his departure from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that, to date, Hamzah is not affiliated with any party within the coalition.
"As far as we know, he is not in any party.
"Until today, there is no indication that he has joined any party within PN.
"Anyone who wishes to be in PN must belong to one of the four component parties," he told reporters.
Takiyuddin noted that PN currently comprises four parties — Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, and the Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP).
He added that while the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) had recently expressed interest in joining the coalition, it later decided against it, leaving PN’s composition unchanged.
"Recently, we received participation from MIC, but were later informed that the party would not be joining PN.
"So, the coalition remains with four parties only," he said.
Takiyuddin, who also serves as PAS secretary-general, stressed that there has been no formal application from Hamzah to join PAS either.
"We do not want to speculate on which party he intends to join. At present, there is no new party joining PN," he said.
His remarks come as Hamzah, a former Bersatu deputy president, hinted earlier that his much-discussed “new home” may in fact be an existing party within the PN coalition rather than a newly formed entity, further fuelling political speculation over his next move. - April 5, 2026
