KUALA LUMPUR – Several wards and the emergency unit at Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan have been inundated following the floods in the east coast last night.

The hospital’s compound and pharmacy department were also affected by the continuous downpour.

Kelantan Health Director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the flood started at around 8.30pm yesterday.

“The staffers worked quickly to move electrical equipment, such as refrigerators and vaccine boxes, to higher ground.

“We are also keeping an eye on patients who may be transferred to another hospital,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.

As for new non-emergency patients, Dr Zaini said he will try to transfer them to other hospitals, especially Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, Kota Baru.

However, emergency cases referred to Tengku Anis Hospital will still be accepted.

Meanwhile, a video uploaded on Facebook by Info Banjir Negeri Kelantan showed that floodwater in one of the wards was at ankle-length.

Yesterday, parts of Terengganu, Kelantan, and Pahang were flooded after hours of continuous rain.

According to the Public Works Department’s Disaster Management website, a total of 12 routes in four districts, including Pasir Puteh in Kelantan, had been closed as of 2pm yesterday due to the floods. – The Vibes, December 19, 2022
