In addition, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul announced that Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (Larut-PN) is opposition leader.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim nominated Ramli and Lau on behalf of the government while Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (Kota Baru-PN) nominated Mas Ermieyati.

With three names nominated, lawmakers had to choose, via a ballot vote, a maximum of two names for the deputy speaker posts.

Lawmakers are allowed to vote in two names simultaneously but not all three. – The Vibes, December 19, 2022
