KUALA LUMPUR – The Defence Ministry (Mindef) has cancelled five procurements for supplies, services, and infrastructure projects to avoid leakages in expenditure.
Mindef said this was following its implementation of asset procurement through open tenders for the needs of all three branches of its services.
“This is in line with the current government’s policy of prioritising transparency and value for money.
“Mindef has also taken serious note of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement regarding the leakage of expenditure at the Budget 2023 Dialogue on Tuesday,” it said in a statement today.
It added that Mindef will not compromise with any party who commits wrongdoings for personal gain in terms of leakages and misconduct in procurement.
“The ministry also will not hesitate to report to the authorities any leakage or lack of transparency in the procurement process,” it said. – Bernama, January 19, 2023
