KUALA LUMPUR — No PAS leader in Terengganu has been called up as yet by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over the allegations of cash handouts by the party to voters during the 15th general election (GE15) campaign period.
Speaking to TV Darul Iman, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar confirmed this and assured that all party leaders will give their full cooperation to the anti-graft body in the investigation.
“I am not sure (about the allegations) and who has been called (to give their statement to the MACC),” said the PAS vice-president. “But I know that MACC will do their investigation transparently.”
“But thus far no party leader has been called up, but we are ready to cooperate with MACC and other relevant authorities in the course of their investigation,’’ he told the state’s online news agency yesterday.
Samsuri said this after officiating the Terengganu Islamic Education Convention yesterday.
Previously it was reported that the MACC had identified some 90 individuals that had allegedly received cash aid for their votes to the Islamist party for GE15, recently.
Similarly, Umno had filed an election petition, disputing the results in Marang, Kuala Terengganu dan Kemaman on allegations of vote buying in these constituencies. – The Vibes, February 3, 2023
