NEGERI Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, admitted that sometimes his driver had to run red lights to ensure he arrived at official events on time.

He said that his busy schedule with various programs a day meant that his driver had to catch up on time.

"I admit that sometimes I had to run red lights because I had to arrive quickly, and there were several official events planned in a day.

"You can see on my Facebook how many programs I attended," he told reporters after chairing the Exco Meeting at Wisma Negeri here on Wednesday.

Aminuddin also explained that his office had written a letter to the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary approvals.

In fact, he explained, his vehicle was also driven by a police officer.

"We had to rush, but we were careful and used enough signals because we wanted to get to the location quickly.

"I apologise …Usually, state leaders are given some leeway for certain things," he said.

Earlier, a video of his official vehicle beating a red traffic light went viral with the caption "Whose car is this … beating a traffic light and blaring a police siren." – March 4, 2026
