KUALA LUMPUR – Umno has nothing to do with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s claims that certain parties are unhappy because he is not entertaining their demands, including intervening in court affairs.

Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this in explaining to The Vibes that Muhyiddin should not divert the public’s attention from the fact that his Perikatan Nasional (PN) government had gone against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree.

“It has nothing to do with anything except that the king’s decree must be obeyed.

“It has nothing to do with our court cases or whatsoever. The government has gone against the decree of His Majesty,” the former deputy prime minister said.

In a live telecast earlier this afternoon, Muhyiddin had said he is aware that there are parties who are unhappy with him for not entertaining some of their demands, which includes urging him to intervene in court proceedings.

The Umno MPs who are currently facing charges are Zahid himself, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

In today’s development of Zahid’s corruption case involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds, submissions after the prosecution’s case, initially scheduled for tomorrow at the high court, were postponed to August 24.

Zahid’s lawyer, Hamidi Mohd Noh, had said the hearing was postponed due to the temporary closure of his office after several staff contracted Covid-19.

Also earlier today, Najib had slammed Muhyiddin for implying that Umno MPs who withdrew support for him were doing so in the hopes that charges against them would be dropped.

“In the end, he (Muhyiddin) blames those that pulled their support for him as those who want their cases dropped, whereas the best way to drop charges is to flatter him instead of going against him,” Najib had said in a Facebook post.
