10,000 chickens die in fiery blaze on Sarawak farm

MIRI – At least 10,000 chickens were burned to death when a big farm in Bau district in southern Sarawak caught alight early this morning.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement today that the fire razed the Zhang Agriculture farm located along the Bau-Kuching Highway at around 3.40am.

Eight members of the Bau Fire Department rushed to the location following an emergency alert.

“Upon arrival, the firefighters found the 7.5 x 30-sq m coop was already ablaze. The fire was controlled by 4.30am and our operations ended at around 6am.

“The coop was razed to the ground,” said the department.

Currently, they are still assessing the financial losses while investigating the source of the fire. – The Vibes, January 12, 2022
